I've had so many conversations with people about job hunting, and one of the biggest thing I tell people is that the best time to look for a job is when you have a job. It is incredibly challenging to find a job while you're unemployed because bills are piling up each day you don't have a job. So I would rarely advise quitting a job before you have a new one lined up.

And, if you don't have a job just yet, take advantage of the gig economy we have right now and pick up something simple like Lyft, Uber, TaskRabbit, etc. while you're in between jobs. Just be sure to invest a good number of hours (~4 hours) each day on job hunting and resume crafting so that your gig job doesn't turn into your full time job.
